Market Availability

According to some sources, the Taiguan will not be sold in the United States, as Volkswagen believes that American consumers are not interested in compact cars with 3-cylinder gasoline or diesel engines.

Car Showcase

The Taiguan was first showcased in October 2012 at the São Paulo Auto Show, with the Ford EcoSport being one of its main competitors upon its release in 2016.

Production and Design

The left-hand drive version of the Taiguan will be produced in São Paulo, Brazil, while right-hand drive models will be built in Pune, India.

Specifications

• The wheelbase of the Taiguan has been extended by 2 inches to 97.2 inches.
• Engines will be paired with either a manual transmission or a dual-clutch transmission option.
• Volkswagen has also indicated plans for a natural gas alternative.
