2017 Audi A5 Review: Performance, Technology, and Design Overview

The Audi A5 is a key player in the mid-size segment, competing against the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, BMW 4-Series, and Lexus RC. Now in its second generation, we take a closer look at the changes and whether the 2017 Audi A5 can hold its rightful place on the podium.

Exterior

The Audi A5 range has long challenged the status quo, differentiating itself from its rivals. While its predecessor featured softer curves, the all-new model is fresher, sharper, and significantly more intimidating.

Performance

With an all-new chassis, the electromechanical power steering adapts to the vehicle’s current speed, providing the driver with precise feedback. The optionally available Dynamic Steering enhances this by adjusting gear ratios based on speed and steering angle.

Under the hood, the A5 features a 2.0-liter TFSI unit generating up to 252 horsepower and a 3.0-liter unit delivering 354 horsepower in S5 trim. Statistically, these engines provide up to 17% more performance while consuming up to 22% less gasoline than their predecessors.
