GAC GA3 Review: Affordable Sedan from GAC Motor
Introduction
While the grand majority of all Chinese cars sold in the UAE are crossover SUVs, the market for affordable sedans is very much still present. While some of the Japanese and Korean carmakers offer decent options at low price points, Chinese firms such as GAC Motor are also making their mark in this segment. Making its first global debut at the Shanghai Auto Show in 2013, the GAC GA3 is one such product from the Guangzhou-based auto giant.
Specifications and Comparison
The GAC GA3 is comparable in size to the Hyundai Accent and is priced similarly. Despite being over half a decade since its launch, GAC has not made any notable changes or modifications to the GA3. Exterior Design
Overall, the GAC GA3 presents a sedate and unassuming appearance. While it may not be a standout, it is not unattractive either. The front fascia features large, sweptback headlamps, a chrome-garnished triple-slatted grille with a sizeable GAC logo, and a neatly designed hood and front bumper, which includes integrated foglamp housing with functional halogen foglights.
The side profile of the GAC GA3 is adorned with numerous curves, bulges, and character lines. While there isn’t much particularly fascinating to note, the five-spoke, 16-inch alloy wheels and pillar-mounted rear door handles add a nice touch. At the back, there are a pair of C-shaped, 3D-design taillights and a thick chrome bar on the boot lid.
In terms of dimensions, the 2019 GAC GA3 sedan measures 4.570 meters in length, 1.790 meters in width, and 1.490 meters in height, with a wheelbase of 2.620 meters. The boot capacity is 450 liters, which is among the smallest in its class.
Interior Features
According to GAC, the GA3’s interior features a “spaceship-style” cockpit. While this may sound intriguing, the reality falls short. The design is somewhat underwhelming, with an abundance of drab black-gray plastic throughout the cabin. Additionally, the build quality, fit-and-finish, and the basic instrument cluster leave much to be desired.
On a positive note, the ergonomics are satisfactory, the air conditioning functions well, and the design theme has some depth. Features of the GA3 include:

The 1,200 kg GA3 can accelerate to 100 km/h in approximately 12.5 seconds and achieve a top speed of 175 km/h, with an average fuel consumption of 6.0 L/100 km.
