Introduction
Few vehicles have played as vital a role in the Middle East as the legendary Nissan Patrol. Launched globally in 1951 and arriving in our region in 1957, the Patrol quickly established itself as the premier family vehicle, known for its reliability and off-road prowess. In the harshest climates and toughest terrains, the Patrol has become a true symbol of strength. To celebrate this iconic vehicle, we were invited to the global launch of the 2020 model on Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi.
Exterior Design
Retaining the shape of its sixth generation, which began in 2010, Nissan made some cosmetic changes in 2014, followed by a timely update in 2019, culminating in a new generation model in 2020 with significant changes inside and out. The vehicle offers two bumper options:
- City Bumper
- Off-Road Bumper
It also features a distinctive V-Motion front grille and new LED headlights and taillights with the brand's signature C-motif design.
Interior Design
The vehicle is available in six exciting colors, including:
- Shiny Gold
- Pearl White
The interior design comes in three different colors, featuring a new orange tan inspired by the GTR, with diamond-stitched leather for a more luxurious experience. In addition to the glossy leather, dark wood trim adorns the door panels, dashboard, and center console. The new dual-screen setup includes an 8-inch display on top and a 7-inch display below.
Comfort and Entertainment
When it comes to comfort, entertainment, and safety technology, Nissan spared no expense, equipping the Patrol with a range of much-needed enhancements. Firstly, the vehicle supports connectivity with both:
- Apple CarPlay
- Android Auto
The adaptive cruise control has also been improved to detect up to two vehicles ahead and can automatically brake when necessary, including pedestrian detection. One of the most surprising upgrades is the enhanced heating and cooling system, redesigned for better cooling of the second and third-row seats through wider ducts.
Performance
The 2020 Patrol retains its reliable engines, offering two options:
- A 5.6-liter V8 engine generating 400 horsepower.
- A 4.0-liter V6 engine producing 275 horsepower.
Both engines are paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission, and an ECO driving mode has been added, especially for the larger engine. Nissan has also maintained its Hydraulic Body Motion Control (HBMC) suspension system for the smooth ride that the Patrol is known for.
Pricing
The prices for the 2020 Nissan Patrol in the UAE range from AED 199,900 to AED 329,000.
