Cadillac CT5-V Review: A Powerful Sports Sedan

Introducing the Cadillac CT5-V, an impressive upgrade to the CT4-V. Starting at 275,000 Dirhams, let's see how the CT5-V competes against rivals from Audi, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz.

Performance and Drive

CT5V

If you've read our CT4-V review, you might recall my criticism about the exhaust note and driving engagement. Fortunately, Cadillac seems to have addressed these issues. The CT5-V features an outstanding exhaust note that varies with different modes, sounding deep at low speeds and producing pops at higher speeds.

The CT5-V offers an exhilarating sports sedan experience, with rear-wheel drive, an electronic limited-slip differential, and a performance traction management system with five control levels. Should you push too far, the responsive Brembo brakes are always ready.

Powering the CT5-V is a robust 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine delivering 360 horsepower and 550 Nm of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and magnesium paddle shifters.

The key difference between the CT4-V and the CT5-V lies in the driving experience. While they may look similar, the CT5-V feels significantly more powerful and engaging, delivering the excitement that the CT4-V lacked.

Interior Quality

Cadillac CT5V

The interior of the CT5-V is a substantial upgrade, showcasing high-quality materials such as Alcantara on the steering wheel and carbon fiber accents. The spacious cabin features a 10-inch infotainment screen, ensuring a sporty feel throughout.

The rear seats offer ample space, complete with A/C vents, cup holders, and charging outlets. The exceptional quality from the front is evident in the back, with leather and carbon fiber used generously.

Features

Cadillac CT5V Bose

Cadillac has ensured the CT5-V is packed with features to rival the best in its class. Highlights include:

  • Panoramic roof
  • 15-speaker Bose audio system
  • 360-degree cameras
  • Automated parking assistance
  • Wireless charging
  • Built-in navigation
  • Android Auto and Apple CarPlay

The innovative Driver's Safety Seat vibrates in response to the car's sensors, alerting you to lane drifting or proximity to other vehicles, enhancing overall safety.

Driving aids include Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Departure Alert, Blind Spot Monitoring, Automatic Emergency Braking, and Pedestrian Detection, providing near-autonomous driving capabilities.

Exterior Design

Cadillac CT5V

The exterior of the CT5-V is striking, characterized by a low and wide stance, with a blacked-out grille and window trim for a menacing look. The side profile features a V badge and 19-inch alloy wheels showcasing Brembo brakes.

At the rear, the sporty design is complemented by a 360-degree camera system, tinted tail lamps, a lip spoiler, and four functional exhausts that announce the car's presence.

Verdict

Cadillac CT5V Back

Starting at AED 175,000 for the standard CT5 and AED 275,000 for the CT5-V, this American sedan offers remarkable value. It competes favorably with the BMW 5-Series and the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, making it an exciting option for those seeking an affordable sports sedan.
