Audi e-tron GT: A Performance Electric Vehicle Unveiled
Introduction
Following its first appearance as a concept at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show, the time has come for Audi to unveil the e-tron GT – the German brand’s answer to the likes of the Porsche Taycan and Tesla Model S. With the date set as February 9th, what is known is that the production model will closely echo the concept model – at least from a design perspective.
Design Features
The e-tron GT, a sleek four-door coupe, features:
- A fully enclosed grille
- Slender headlights
- Recessed air intakes
- Ventilated fenders
- A charging port on the driver’s side
The side view is the e-tron GT’s best angle with a deeply raked windscreen flowing into a sloping roof and continuing all the way to the rear where broad haunches give it a menacing appearance.
Performance Expectations
Although details will be revealed next month, we expect the e-tron GT to have a lot in common with the Porsche Taycan. Multiple variants of the e-tron GT are expected to be made available, including:
- An RS model
- All-wheel steering
- A dual-motor set-up
- All-wheel-drive with torque vectoring
Specifications and Rumors
As per rumors, the e-tron GT will produce a combined output of 637 horsepower and hit 100 km/h in under 3.5 seconds. However, the range remains a big question mark with a few sources claiming up to 830 km on a single charge. Until more is known, stay tuned.
