Changan CS95 Review: The 7-Seater SUV Offering Exceptional Value
This is the Changan CS95, a 7-seater Chinese SUV that costs 136,500 Dirhams. By the end of this review, I will demonstrate why it offers one of the best (if not the best) value-for-money propositions in its segment. Let’s get started.
Driving Experience

Some of you may remember that we drove the Changan CS85, a smaller model a few months ago. In that review, I mentioned that it was one of the best Chinese cars I had ever driven. Driving the CS95 now proves that it wasn’t just a stroke of luck; the team behind Changan truly knows how to make a high-quality vehicle.
The CS95 is the largest and most expensive Changan model currently available. To support its size and weight, it is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that produces 233 horsepower and 360 Nm of torque. While it may not sound like a lot, trust me, it’s more than sufficient for city driving.
Part of what makes the drive so comfortable is the 6-speed automatic transmission built by Japanese company AISIN. This name may ring a bell; they manufacture gearboxes for high-end cars like the Audi Q7, Lexus LS, and Porsche Cayenne, among many others.

On the road, the well-tuned suspension of the CS95 stands out. It is soft and comfortable without feeling floaty. Despite its size, comparable to the Ford Explorer or Nissan Pathfinder, the handling is impressive. The CS95 features Sport, Eco, and Snow modes, along with an Auto mode that automatically distributes power to all four wheels as needed.
Having driven many Chinese cars over the years, I cannot emphasize enough how superior this vehicle is compared to its competitors. If you are uncertain or skeptical, I strongly encourage you to visit your nearest Changan showroom for a test drive. Within 10 to 15 minutes, you will understand why I believe the CS95’s true competitors are not other Chinese SUVs but rather vehicles that cost twice as much.
Interior Design

The build quality and design of the CS95 are exceptional, featuring brown leather seats with contrasting black leather on the dashboard, door panels, and center console. The cabin is adorned with piano black and brushed metal trims, which enhance its upscale feel.
The minimalistic design is complemented by a high-resolution digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch infotainment screen that is equally sharp. I particularly appreciate how seamlessly the infotainment screen integrates into the dashboard. When the car is off, the display and surrounding buttons become invisible, resembling a large glass panel.

The space in the second row exceeds expectations, providing ample room for three adults. Additionally, it includes a USB charger and separate AC controls, enhancing passenger comfort.
Features

The Changan CS95 is well-equipped with features. The seats are power-adjustable, ventilated, and massaging. It includes a panoramic roof, a 10-speaker Pioneer audio system, a 360-degree camera system with exceptional resolution, and a wireless phone charger integrated into the center armrest.
On the safety side, it has airbags, parking sensors, and all essential safety aids. Moreover, it features an adaptive cruise control system, blind-spot monitoring, lane departure alert, rear cross-traffic alert, and automated brake assist, all working together to make highway cruising effortless and comfortable.
Exterior Design

From the outside, the CS95 is an attractive vehicle. Some may say it resembles a Range Rover, a Lincoln Navigator, or a Ford Explorer, and they are correct!
Despite its similarities to other models, the CS95 maintains a classy and luxurious appearance. The proportions are just right; it neither appears too bulky nor too small, embodying the desired aesthetic of its designers.
Verdict

At just 136,500 Dirhams, you can drive home a brand new Changan CS95 with a 5-year/150,000-kilometer warranty in the UAE. The question is, should you? In my opinion, you definitely should because the CS95 offers phenomenal value for money, doing many things right that even more expensive models from well-established manufacturers could learn from.
