Abu Dhabi Police Introduces New Radars to Improve Traffic Safety
Installation of New Radars
To better monitor traffic flow, Abu Dhabi Police has announced the installation of new radars equipped with Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology throughout the emirate. These radars are designed to read vehicle license plates and monitor both traffic flow and the number of vehicles in specific areas.
Objectives of the Radar Installation
Brigadier Ali Khalfan Al Dhaheri, Director of Central Operations at Abu Dhabi Police, stated: "The installation of new radars on the roads is part of a comprehensive plan to enhance traffic safety and reduce accidents."
Additional Details on the Installation
Following the installation of 17 solar-powered speed cameras last year, the new radars have been positioned in areas prone to traffic violations and accidents, aiming to reduce reckless lane changing, improper overtaking, and speeding.
Reminder for Drivers
Drivers are reminded to adhere to the speed limits set across the emirate, especially after the implementation of the new regulation removing the tolerated speed excess, which was previously 20 km/h.
