ADNOC introduces free self service fueling across Abu Dhabi

In a bold, revolutionary move and one that other oil companies have not implemented in the UAE, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) introduces free self service across fuel stations in Abu Dhabi with assistance from attendants being charged at an extra fee of Dh10.
While the Flex system allows residents and visitors to fill up for no additional cost, the premium service whereby an attend pumps petrol into the vehicle, is charged at Dh10. The elderly and People of Determination are exempt from paying the premium service fee at all ADNOC stations across the emirate.
Dissatisfied customers who used the self-service option said that instead of speeding up the process, they spent an extra 10-15 minutes trying to figure out the new system. On the other hand, satisfied motorists applauded the system by saying it is a step in the right direction.
Part of the self-service requires customers to install an ADNOC Smart Tag on their vehicles. While the first 200,000 motorists would receive this tag for free, those who register later will be charged a certain fee that is yet to be determined.
How to receive an ADNOC Smart Tag
- Register for an ADNOC Wallet account on the company’s website.
- Top-up your ADNOC Wallet account with Dh50 or more.
- Schedule an installation appointment online and keep the work order PIN handy.
- Take your vehicle to a Smart Tag installation center with your Emirates ID, vehicle registration card, and work order PIN.
