All-New Ford Taurus: A Comprehensive Overview

Ford Taurus

Introduction to the All-New Ford Taurus

Before any manufacturer launches a brand-new automobile, it puts the vehicle through a gazillion tests, ensuring it can withstand every conceivable torture. Only after passing these tests does the company announce its launch in the market. For example, America’s auto giant Ford has been rigorously testing its all-new and upcoming Taurus sedan in the Middle East. According to the Blue Oval, the Taurus has been the brand’s “best-selling nameplate” in the region, which is quite impressive. Ford mentions that it currently has specialized testing facilities for its upcoming cars in places like Thailand, India, Australia, and China.

Importance of Rigorous Testing

Commenting on the upcoming Taurus was its Product Development General Manager, Ford International Markets Group. He stated, “It’s crucial to the comfort of our customers and the integrity of the all-new Taurus, that we test in such extreme climes. Dust and sand can wreak havoc on engine internals and suspension components, accelerating wear on moving parts. Add that to the searing heat, and you face a vehicle that must work much harder than it might in more favorable conditions. Our testing ensures Taurus’ engine, transmission, driveline, and cooling systems can handle the demands of the region.”

Generations of the Ford Taurus

The all-new Ford Taurus comes with a legacy that has existed in global markets since the mid-1980s. The Taurus has gone through six generations, with the upcoming iteration being the seventh-generation model.

Compared to its earlier versions, this Ford Taurus is a full-size sedan based on the Blue Oval’s latest CD4 platform. Ford has extended the original CD4 platform’s wheelbase by nearly 100mm, providing more space for passengers in the back. This architecture is similar to those found in the posher Lincoln Continental and MKZ.

Exterior Design Enhancements

The upcoming all-new Ford Taurus sports an improved and upscale-looking exterior design. Key features include:

  • Entirely reworked front fascia with new LED headlights
  • Modern grille and bumper design
  • Streamlined and sophisticated side silhouette with new alloy wheels
  • Revised and sculpted rear end

If you’re looking for an elegant yet modern-looking full-size family sedan, the all-new Ford Taurus will certainly catch your attention. In the Middle East, the upcoming Taurus should be available in colors such as White Platinum, Absolute Black, Stone Grey, Blue Panther, and Crystal Solid White. Trim levels include Ambiente, Trend, Titanium, and Titanium Plus.

Interior Upgrades

Just like the exterior, Ford has updated the interior of the all-new Taurus to enhance its upscale and luxurious feel. This includes:

  • New stylish seats with high-quality leather upholstery
  • Heating and ventilation functions for added comfort
  • Expansive dual-pane sunroof
  • 8-inch digital driver’s display
  • Tri-zone automatic climate control
  • Ambient LED lighting
  • New 13.2-inch touch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto
  • Wireless charging pad
  • Rear-center armrest with premium features
  • 14-speaker B&O premium sound system

The all-new Ford Taurus also boasts advanced safety equipment, including:

  • Adaptive LED headlamps
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Collision mitigation system with Automatic emergency braking
  • Automated parking system
  • Blind Spot Information System
  • Lane-keeping aid
  • Driver impairment monitor

Performance Specifications

Under the hood, the all-new Ford Taurus is expected to feature a 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine that produces 240hp and 390Nm of peak torque. This engine will power the front wheels through an 8-speed automatic gearbox, allowing the Taurus to reach 100 kph in approximately 8 seconds, with a top speed of 218 kph.

According to various statistics, the upcoming Taurus EcoBoost should average around 8.2 L/100 km, translating to 12.1 km/l. So far, it seems that Ford has a winning product in their hands with the all-new Taurus. Well, Insha’Allah.
