Audi A6 2019 Review: A Luxury Sedan Redefined
Introduction
The all-new Audi A6 2019 has stiff competition in the posh executive sedan segment, namely from the BMW 5-Series and the Mercedes-Benz E-Class. Fresh off the production line and carrying the A6 nameplate into a new generation, let’s take a closer look at what this all-new model has to offer potential buyers.
Exterior Design
The new Audi A6 is a remarkably good-looking car, and its road presence is highlighted by a bold new grille and mesmerizing LED headlights. Being the S-line trim (Audi’s sporty version of the standard car), our tester rocks 19-inch alloys, sporty bumpers in the front and back, and dual exhaust cutouts that aren’t exactly functional. The most pleasing design element, however, is the sleek cut that protrudes from the rear fender, lending the A6 a sculpted shoulder line.
Interior Features
Continuing its elegant design on the interior, the new dashboard and integrated infotainment screen are wonderful touches. I adore the new center console design with the twin screens positioned one above the other.
Responsive and with extremely sharp graphics, the above screen controls the infotainment system, featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while the lower screen controls climate control and doubles as a trackpad for GPS input.
As a luxury sedan, rear seats are an important factor, and the Audi A6 performs moderately well in this regard. There is ample legroom, ventilated seats, and a four-zone climate control system, but the rear seats lack cupholders, which need to be ordered from the lengthy and pricey spec sheet.
Boot space measures 530 liters, matching the BMW 5-Series but falling 10 liters short of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class. While the boot is not small, it is slightly smaller than one of its key rivals.
Notable Features
In addition to features like adaptive cruise control and blind spot monitoring, the A6 is equipped with innovative technology. One standout feature is the Augmented Reality that enhances traditional 360-degree parking cameras.
This 3D view provides a real-time 360-degree perspective of the car, making it easier to navigate tight spaces and park, almost like a video game experience.
Driving Experience
Driving the Audi A6 is silent, smooth, and embodies every adjective associated with a luxury sedan. The 3.0-liter V6 engine produces 335 horsepower, delivering power through a 7-speed automatic transmission to all four wheels, known as Quattro in Audi terminology.
Overall, it’s a smooth and supremely quiet ride, feeling luxurious and looking the part. However, I wish the engine and exhaust note were a bit more audible inside the cabin to enhance spirited driving.
Verdict
In terms of design, features, and driving dynamics, the all-new Audi A6 has pushed the standard so high that it can be best described as a baby A8. Prices range from AED 258,000 to AED 402,000, with our tester priced at AED 355,740. While it is an impressive car overall, there is certainly room for improvement, particularly regarding the size of the panoramic roof and the weight of the doors.
