Audi Q2 Production: Details and News
Overview of Audi Q2
The Audi Q2 is the smallest offering from the German automaker in the SUV segment, having commenced production after its debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. Production began at the car manufacturing plant located in Ingolstadt, with reservations set to open very soon.
Ingolstadt Factory
The Ingolstadt factory is the largest production facility and the second-largest in terms of size in Europe, responsible for producing over 5,000,000 vehicles annually. Doing the math, this equates to a car being produced every 30 seconds. With a fully automated system in the production line, output is expected to reach 450 units per day.
Assembly Process
In the assembly line, the Q2 vehicles accompany the A3 as they undergo chassis manufacturing, painting, and assembly processes. The Audi Q2 showcases advanced technology, offering six different engine options globally, including three gasoline and three diesel variants.
Management Statements
Albert Maier, the factory manager, stated: "The challenge is significant when starting production of any new class, as this is a special moment for the factory and its employees. From the Q family to the global market: we are proud to manufacture the Audi Q2."
