Risks of Eating in Your Car During Ramadan

Many car owners and drivers choose to have their iftar or suhoor meals in their vehicles during the holy month of Ramadan. However, some individuals irresponsibly discard food and drink leftovers from their car windows in unauthorized locations, exposing themselves to hefty fines of up to 3,000 EGP, license suspension, and a ban from driving for a year.

Possible Increased Fines

According to Article (72) of the Traffic Law:

  • The offender will be fined no less than 500 EGP and no more than 1,500 EGP.
  • If the violation is repeated within three months of the first offense, the fine amount will be doubled.

License Suspension for One Year

If the violation occurs for a third time within six months:

  • The same fine amount imposed in the second offense will apply.
  • The driver's license will be suspended for a full year.

Smart Radar Network to Monitor Violations

The smart radar network, comprised of both fixed and mobile units, aims to reduce traffic violations on the roads. This extensive network, featuring advanced French and German radar systems, can detect violations as they happen. Additionally, traffic officers rely on these devices and maintain a physical presence on the streets around the clock to catch offenders.

Tips to Avoid Violations

  1. Avoid eating in your car while driving.
  2. Use designated areas for stopping and eating.
  3. Dispose of waste in the appropriate bins.
