All-New Bentley Flying Spur Mulliner: The Iconic Flying B Logo
Introduction to the Flying B Logo
Bentley has revealed an all-new version of its iconic ‘Flying B’ logo for the latest Flying Spur Mulliner. The brand states that 97 percent of all Flying Spur orders include a ‘Flying B’.
The History of the Flying B
The Flying B logo has a rich history. While earlier Bentleys, such as the EXP2, didn’t feature the iconic emblem, it was during the mid-1920s that customer demand prompted the Crewe-based automaker to introduce the upright brass “B” on its car’s bonnets.
Features of the All-New Flying Spur
The all-new Flying Spur showcases the sixth generation of the iconic Flying B, designed by Hoe Young Hwang. This design was selected unanimously by the Bentley Board from other candidates at the Crewe factory.
Innovative Design Elements
A remarkable aspect of the Flying B on the Flying Spur Mulliner is that it is the first to be deployed electronically. It features:
- Clear acrylic wings
- Internal illumination
Manufacturing Process of the Flying B
Bentley states that it takes 11 weeks to build the bonnet mascot, which is then ready for the assembly of the crystal acrylic wings, wiring, and tiny LEDs. Exquisite craftsmanship indeed.
