Introduction
The BMW i3 made its official debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show and is expected to hit showrooms early next year, starting at a price of $42,275.
Car Design
At the rear of the vehicle, you will find the "i3" and "eDrive" badges, indicating that this is an electric vehicle, although it is also available with a gasoline range extender.
Vehicle Performance
The i3 is designed to cover between 80 to 100 miles, while range extender models can achieve up to 180 miles using fuel from a 2.4-gallon tank, in addition to a full charge from its 22 kWh lithium-ion battery.
Manufacturing Materials
The majority of the i3's body is made from lightweight composite materials, such as carbon fiber reinforced plastic. Its chassis is constructed from aluminum and magnesium, making it the first mass-produced car with such characteristics.
