Following recent severe weather conditions in the UAE, which resulted in heavy rainfall and water accumulation across various regions, the Insurance Authority has confirmed that vehicles damaged by rain and flooding will be covered by insurance companies. This is because the incidents are not classified as natural disasters.
Insurance Policy Coverage
The authority has clarified that comprehensive insurance policies that cover risks of loss and damage typically exclude incidents caused directly or indirectly by natural disasters, such as floods, hurricanes, and other similar events.
Compensation for Affected Drivers
Since floods and hurricanes fall under the category of natural disasters, affected drivers will receive compensation from their insurance companies based on these guidelines.
