The Head of Dubai Traffic Police, Major General Mohammed Saif Al Zafin, has issued a warning to drivers who use their mobile phones while driving. He stated that the police will not tolerate such a serious mistake from anyone.

Penalties for Mobile Phone Use While Driving

Al Zafin added that violators of this rule will face a fine of 200 AED and 4 black points will be added to their traffic record. He described these violations as "serious errors that often lead to disasters."

Statistics on Violations

Dubai Police statistics revealed that they issued 20,772 fines to drivers caught using their mobile phones while driving in the first half of 2013. In comparison, 23,473 fines were issued in the first half of 2012.

Traffic Safety Tips

Al Zafin advises that anyone receiving a phone call while driving should pull over to the right side of the road before making their call, emphasizing that they will not tolerate any more such mistakes.
