Introduction
As part of an agreement signed between the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Etisalat "du" at the recent GITEX exhibition in Dubai, all 10,800 taxis in the UAE will soon be equipped with free Wi-Fi service. This initiative aims to enhance passenger satisfaction and make taxi rides in Dubai more enjoyable and comfortable.
Details of the Agreement
Ahmad Hashim Behroozian, CEO of the Public Transport Agency at the RTA, stated:
"According to the agreement, du will begin installing the necessary devices in the taxis. All taxis operated by the six companies in Dubai will be covered by this service within one year from the date of signing this agreement."
Significance of the Initiative
Osman Sultan, CEO of du Telecom, emphasized that this initiative is a significant step in supporting the UAE's Vision 2021, which aims to provide modern communication services accessible to all citizens, residents, and visitors in the UAE. This initiative follows the launch of a pilot project in 2016 that equipped 500 Dubai airport taxis with free Wi-Fi service.
