Luxury automotive brand Genesis officially introduced its first electric vehicle, the Electrified G80, during its debut at the 2021 Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition held at the Shanghai National Exhibition and Convention Center. This new model is the electric variant of the renowned G80.
Features of the Electrified G80
During the exhibition, Genesis also showcased the Genesis X Concept, making its first appearance in the Asian market. This futuristic electric sports car falls under the "Gran Turismo (GT)" category, reflecting the company's vision for the future of sporty and luxurious design, marking a new era in electric vehicle history.

Genesis broadcasted its participation in the Shanghai Auto Show live on its global online channel Genesis Worldwide YouTube starting at 11:40 AM KST. The event also featured the luxury brand's strategies for addressing the global and Chinese markets.

On this occasion, Jay Chang, the global president of Genesis, stated: "We consider our participation today as highly significant for the Genesis brand. On one hand, this is our first-ever participation in this exhibition, and on the other hand, we are announcing a new product outside Korean territory for the first time. Finally, we are presenting our fully electric Electrified G80, marking our entry into the electric vehicle market."
Performance of the Electrified G80
The Electrified G80 is Genesis's first production electric vehicle, setting new and advanced standards for luxury electric sedans. The new car builds on the successful heritage of the G80, achieving an ideal balance between elegance and a sporty character.
Range and Performance
- Maximum estimated range per charge: over 500 km (based on NEDC standards).
- Fast battery charging: from 10% to 80% in just 22 minutes using a 350 kW charger.
- Powerful AWD drivetrain: 272 kW and 700 Nm.
- Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds (in sport mode).
Charging Technologies
The Electrified G80 features a multi-800V/400V fast charging system, allowing customers to utilize different charging infrastructures. The electric motor and power converter can increase the charging power from 400 volts to 800 volts.
Additional Features
The Electrified G80 also offers the V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) feature, enabling customers to connect and power their electric devices with 3.6 kW of electrical power.

Genesis equipped the vehicle with ANC-R (Active Noise Control-Road) to ensure a comfortable driving experience.
