Gordon Murray’s S1 LM is a McLaren F1 GTR Reborn for the Road

Gordon Murray Special Vehicles (GMSV) has just unveiled its first project: the S1 LM. It’s a modern homage to the 1995 McLaren F1 GTR that claimed victory at Le Mans, yet reimagined through Murray’s current ethos of minimalist artistry and engineering precision.

Limited to only five ultra-exclusive builds, this supercar is truly a collector's dream. 

Bridging Heritage and Innovation

At the core of the S1 LM lies a 4.3-liter naturally aspirated V12, a beefed-up evolution of the T.50’s engine, capable of spinning all the way to 12,100 rpm. It produces over 690 hp, and roars through an 18-karat gold-foiled Inconel exhaust system, delivering both performance and a cinematic soundtrack. 

Like Murray’s previous cars, it comes equipped with a six-speed manual gearbox, promising an entirely analog driving experience. 

The aerodynamic package draws heavily from endurance racing, with a lowered roofline, a massive splitter and twin-element rear wing, and a generous rear diffuser. Every body panel is formed from ultra-lightweight carbon fiber, a nod to racing purity and performance. 

Track Precision with Road-Ready Charm

True to Murray’s philosophies, the S1 LM is built with engagement and balance prioritized over flashy theatrics. A solid-mounted engine, new suspension geometry, and a wider track enhance driver feedback and agility. The result is what Murray calls “timeless and beautiful,” a design statement rooted in purity. 

Inside, the experience is stripped-back and focused. The three-seat layout with central driving position returns, accompanied by minimal instrumentation, a carbon-fiber cockpit, a wooden-shaft gear lever, and a nod to nostalgia with tartan seat fabric. It’s a cockpit that feels both motorsport and uniquely personal. 

Exclusivity on Wheels

GMSV will only build five S1 LM cars and each car is fully sold, shrouded in bespoke craftsmanship and an undisclosed price. Deliveries are slated for 2026, marking the start of GMSV’s trajectory into one-off automotive artistry.
