Hyundai has been making waves all across the global market with its latest design language and business strategy. Adding to the laurels, the Korean firm made its mark at the Good Design Awards by bagging five awards in the transportation and robotics categories.
Hyundai’s concepts have been wowing the car world recently with the 45 concept in 2019 and the Prophecy concept in 2020 being loved by petrolheads all across the world. The SEVEN concept built on that success with its hygiene features and spacious interior being loved by potential consumers. And so it doesn’t come as a surprise that the SEVEN Concept and the carmaker’s hydrogen-powered container transportation system, known as the Trailer Drone concept, won the awards in the transportation categories.
Moving on to the robotics categories, one that sounds very cutting-edge to the average petrolhead, Hyundai’s PnD (Plug & Drive) Mobility developed under the motto ‘Expanding Human Reach’ to “realize the vision of limitless freedom in mobility”, PnD L7 and Mobile Eccentric Droid (MobED) - a compact mobile platform consisting of four Drive & Lift (DnL) modules, each of which combine driving, steering, posture control and braking systems into a single structure - earned silverware in the robotics category.
“Hyundai Design strives to forge strong connections between our customers and our mobility solutions,” said SangYup Lee, Executive Vice President and Head of Hyundai Global Design Center.
“The awards recognize how we add more value to our customers’ everyday lives within and beyond the automotive space. Our design dream team and engineers put their passion and heart into these projects to make our dreams closer to reality,” he concluded.
