Infinity Announces New Naming Strategy for Luxury Vehicles

Dubai, UAE, December 18, 2012:
New Naming Strategy
In a significant move reflecting its expansion plans in the luxury automotive sector, Infinity today announced its new naming strategy for all of its vehicle products, set to take effect in early 2014. Infinity will unveil its new luxury sports sedan at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), which will be the first vehicle to carry the Q designation, named Q50.
Details of the New Strategy
According to the new strategy, the luxury brand's sedan and convertible models will carry the Q designation, whereas crossover and SUV vehicles will be identified with the QX designation. Each model will also feature a numerical identifier representing its hierarchical position within the lineup.
Infinity's Vision for Naming
This strategic change reflects Infinity's desire to clarify its vehicle naming policy in light of its ambitious growth plans, which include significant expansions in the company’s vehicle lineup.
Comments from Johan de Nysschen
Johan de Nysschen, President of Infinity Motor Company, commented on the revised naming policy: "We have engaged in extensive discussions with our customers, retailers, and partners over the past several months, and it has become clear that we need to create a new identity and redirect our brand to strengthen consumer connections with our vehicle lineup."
The Significance of the Q Designation
De Nysschen added, "To achieve this goal, we recognized the need for a simple and consistent strategy for naming our vehicles. We assessed the situation, conducted extensive research, and found that the Q designation is inspired by the aspirational performance of the next generation of Infinity models, enhancing their performance potential while being closely linked to the legacy of the Q45, the first groundbreaking product from Infinity launched in 1989."
Future Implementation of the Strategy
Infinity will implement its new naming strategy across its current product lineup in several sequential phases, coinciding with upcoming model releases. Future plans for the brand also include the next generation of Infinity models, which will automatically carry the Q and QX designations.
