Land Rover has unveiled the “most dynamically accomplished Defender ever” - the Octa. The Octa is also the most powerful Defender ever. Land Rover says that the Octa name is inspired from the eight sides of a diamond which is “the hardest and most desirable mineral on earth.”
Unmatched Speed and Power
Talking about power, the Defender Octa can do 0-100kph in just 3.8 seconds. That is sports car pace from a massive SUV. The Octa is powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter mild-hybrid V-8 engine that packs 626 horsepower and up to 590 pound-feet of torque. The engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Superior Chassis and Suspension
Contrary to the massive engine and performance figures, Land Rover hasn;t done all the work on the powertrain of the Defender Octa. The SUV also has Land Rover’s 6D Dynamics chassis, quite a fancy name, which minimizes body roll and tweaked suspension for superb off-roading capabilities.
Enhanced Dimensions
The Octa sports a 1.1-inch increase in height and a 2.7-inch wider stance compared to the standard model. It features extended and reinforced cross arms along with unique active dampers for enhanced performance. Thanks to the increased height, the Defender Octa can wade into 3.3 feet of water!
Improved Braking and Steering
The SUV is equipped with powerful 15.7-inch front brakes and six-piston Brembo calipers, ensuring superior stopping power. Additionally, it has the quickest steering ratio ever seen in a Defender, promising agile and responsive handling.
Luxurious Interior Options
Step inside and you will find performance seats with Body and Soul Seat audio technology. The standard interior of the new Defender OCTA features Burnt Sienna semi-aniline leather paired with ebony Kvadrat fabric. Customers also have the option to choose interiors in Light Cloud and Lunar or ebony leather. The exclusive Octa Edition One, marking the first year of production, offers a unique two-tone khaki and ebony seat upholstery.
Stylish Exterior Enhancements
On the outside, the Octa has a new grille for better airflow, quad tailpipes with an active exhaust system, an aluminum alloy front under shield for underbody protection along with graphite finish and exposed Phosphor Bronze-finished front and rear recovery points.
The Defender Octa sits on massive 33 inch Goodyear Advance All-Terrain tires made specifically for the Land Rover. They are, you guessed it, the biggest tyres ever fitted to a Defender. To accommodate the tyres, the wheel arches are extended and bumper redesigned for better approach angles.
Customers can choose between four paints for the Octa: Petra Copper, Faroe Green, Carpathian Grey or Charente Grey. All models will get a beautiful diamond circled graphic and contrasting Narvik Black roof and tailgate.

The Defender Octa is set to make its public debut at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed from July 11-14.
