My Experience with the 2019 Renault Megane RS

I had the opportunity to drive the Renault Megane RS for just over a week. To be honest, it took me some time to figure out the best way to start this article. After gathering my thoughts and crafting various stories—some good and some bad—I decided to simply share my journey, how I acquired the Renault Megane, and whether my experience was good or bad.

Background of the Experience

How It All Began

About two months ago, my colleagues Anas and Zaran got their hands on this car. Not because they are part of the YallaMotor team, but I genuinely believe they are the only ones providing unbiased, trustworthy, and real car reviews in the region. In other words, they say what they like and what they genuinely see in a car. More importantly, they can keep you informed about everything you want and highlight the essential facts.

Competing with the Volkswagen Golf

Both of them know that I am a huge fan of the Volkswagen Golf, as we often talk about it. Knowing me well, they would always tease me and try to convince me to buy one.

The Driving Experience

We received this car earlier, and they wouldn't stop persuading me to drive it since it’s a competitor to the Golf. Every day, they would say, "Jorge, you have to try the RS," "Jorge, once you drive it, you won't love the Golf anymore," "Come on, Jorge, why not take it for a spin?" My constant reply was always, "No, no, no, I don't want to; just leave me alone with my thoughts."

Overall Impressions

Exactly two months later, Zaran released a video of his experience, and I watched it repeatedly until I fell in love with the car. That’s right. Additionally, Anas's brother bought one, and he already owns a Nissan GT-R. So, thoughts began to creep into my mind, urging me to give it a try!

Two weeks ago, we met with the Renault dealership, and this became one of the topics we discussed. After a lengthy discussion, the Megane RS was delivered to our office for me to drive. Given all the previous notes I had received about the car, it was time for me to stop being stubborn and experience the RS for a week.

This vibrant orange-yellow color is the perfect choice for this car. Don’t purchase it in black or white, as you won’t do justice to the vehicle. While the black and white colors will look good, they won’t make the car stand out. This is a distinctive vehicle, and its color should be equally unique.

Power

You’ll experience the performance of a 1.8-liter turbo engine that feels twice its size. The Megane RS will prove to you that driving in "Comfort" mode feels off and not easy, but in "Race" mode, everything feels right, and you'll sense that the car operates at its best.

Handling

I felt the urge and confidence to take it through as many turns as possible. With this car, you just want to drive it around the clock. It’s delightful to switch lanes instead of engaging in the monotonous straight driving on Sheikh Zayed Road.

Exhaust Sound

The power conveyed through the dual-clutch transmission and the distinctive exhaust note. They make you think twice about whether you want to turn on the radio or connect your phone to listen to your favorite playlist.

Seats

They feel as though they were specifically designed for those turns and this driving style. They cradle your body perfectly, ensuring comfort and support.

Price

And finally, I can get all of this for just 138,000 AED. This is significantly lower than similar models it competes with.
