2020 Nissan Patrol Review: Upgrades and Features
The Nissan Patrol is an undeniable icon in our region and an SUV we all know and love. For 2020, it has received several upgrades both inside and out. Let’s dive in and discover everything that has changed. You’ll also notice two versions of the Patrol in the picture above: the V6 Titanium and the V8 Platinum.
Exterior
From the outside, this sixth-generation model (also known as the Y62) of the Patrol has remained almost unchanged for the past 10 years. However, for 2020, Nissan has introduced a host of changes, including a new set of full LED headlights with the brand’s signature C-shaped Daytime Running Lights. Following the brand’s design language, the Patrol also features a new V-Motion grille that is noticeably bolder and smaller than the pre-facelift model.
Both the Titanium and Platinum versions of the 2020 Patrol come with LED fog lights, but their placement differs. In the Titanium, the fog lights are positioned higher due to the off-road bumper, while in the Platinum, they are located lower in what Nissan calls a ‘city bumper’. Additionally, the size and design of the alloy wheels vary between the two versions: the Titanium features 18-inch alloys, whereas the Platinum boasts 20-inch wheels.
Three significant changes differentiate the 2020 Patrol from the older model at the rear: C-shaped LED taillights with sequential indicators, a chrome strip holding the Patrol name, and a new bumper. The only difference between the Titanium and the Platinum versions is the badge.

Interior
Inside, the design and quality we are accustomed to in a Patrol remain, but there are notable changes. The dashboard features a cleaner design with a new dual touchscreen layout, and the instrument cluster now houses a larger 7-inch information screen. The upper screen primarily displays navigation, while the lower screen controls media, mobile connectivity, and various other settings.
The Platinum version offers real leather with an option for a unique GT-R tan orange color, along with dark wood trim across the dashboard, center console, and steering wheel, which was previously exclusive to the Patrol NISMO.
Conversely, the Titanium version features artificial wood and leather. The steering wheel lacks wood inserts but includes a mix of black and beige leather. Nevertheless, this is not a deal breaker for families, as the Patrol still provides ample space and comfort for all passengers.
Features
Regarding features, the Nissan Patrol includes adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, an Intelligent Rear-View Mirror, wireless charging, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and an impressive 13-speaker Bose audio system, among others. You may be curious about the differences between the Titanium and Platinum versions.
While the Titanium includes all these features, it lacks heated and cooled memory seats, an around view monitor, and electric steering adjustment—minor omissions overall. Both versions are equipped with Lane Departure Assist and Voice Command, although neither system matches the refinement of newer systems available in the market.

Drive
The 2020 Nissan Patrol offers two engine options: a 4.0-liter V6 producing 275 horsepower and 394 Nm of torque, or a 5.6-liter V8 generating 400 horsepower and 560 Nm of torque. Both engines are mated to a smooth-shifting 7-speed automatic transmission, allowing the V6 to average 8.4 kilometers per liter and the V8 to average 8.0 kilometers per liter.
Another significant change is the suspension setup. While the V6 comes equipped with numerous features, it does not include the Hydraulic Body Motion Control (HBMC) suspension found in the V8 model. This hydraulic system connects to the 4-wheel independent suspension, absorbing road bumps and reducing body roll during cornering, resulting in a more comfortable ride in the V8, both on and off-road.
Verdict
Since the beginning of the year, we've attended numerous new car launches, but due to the current market situation, not many of these new cars are visible on the roads. The new Nissan Patrol, however, has been spotted everywhere since its launch three months ago, highlighting its iconic status in the Middle East. Prices for the 2020 Nissan Patrol start at 199,900 Dirhams for the basic V6, with the Titanium priced at AED 240,000 and the Platinum V6 at AED 265,000. The V8 starts at AED 234,000, with the mid-option Titanium at AED 299,000 and the Platinum at AED 329,000.
