Smart Vehicles Revolutionize Yard Tests for UAE Driver Licenses
Introduction
Drivers learning to obtain their driver's licenses in the UAE will now utilize Smart Vehicles to conduct their yard/internal tests. This enhancement aims to deliver more accurate and unbiased results. To obtain a driver's license in the UAE, individuals must complete three essential tests:
- Theoretical test
- Yard test
- Road test
Automated Yard Test
The yard test has transitioned to a fully automated process. This innovative system evaluates an individual’s skills in:
- Parallel parking
- Side parking
- Garage parking
- Sudden braking
Several cameras and sensors installed in the Smart Vehicles monitor the performance of the examinees. This new system significantly reduces the error margin in determining a 'pass' or 'fail' outcome, thereby enhancing safety.
Surveillance and Implementation
The testing yard is equipped with five surveillance cameras:
- Four cameras positioned outside the testing vehicle to assist the examinee
- One camera on board to verify the individual's identity
The Smart Yard Test has already been implemented in 15 testing yards across Dubai, with over 108,603 applicants having participated since its launch.
