Introduction
Recently, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars unveiled its latest creation as part of its Bespoke design program, the Phantom Tranquility. This luxurious automobile exemplifies the company's craftsmanship and its commitment to elevating luxury and experience to new heights.
The limited Phantom Tranquility collection consists of only 25 units globally, produced in both the standard Phantom and Phantom Extended Wheelbase versions, which have already been acquired by distinguished collectors.
Launch at the Geneva Motor Show
The car was launched at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, accompanied by a special video interview with Matt Danton, the chief designer of the Collection Cars division.
Design of the Phantom Tranquility
Both the short film and the design of the Phantom Tranquility explore the themes of serenity and the purity of space. This theme aligns with the car's name, celebrating the tranquility that envelops the interior, along with beautifully coordinated elements and inspirations drawn from beyond our earthly bounds.
Gallery Design
The gallery of "Tranquility" features a design inspired by the coded X-ray masks used in the British Skylark space rocket. A beam of high energy passes through the distinctive perforated pattern, creating a translucent shadow on the layers beneath.
The characteristics of the original radiation sources have been mathematically reconstructed and translated using 24-carat gold-plated stainless steel and high-strength aluminum typically used in aircraft manufacturing.
Space Exploration in Design
The theme of space exploration is further exemplified by a unique first for Rolls-Royce, incorporating a meteorite fragment into the audio control unit, enhanced with a polished gold grip that matches the gold accents in the gallery.
This remarkable application of the original stone, sourced from the Muonionalusta meteorite that fell on Earth in Kiruna, Sweden, in 1906, is complemented by an intricate engraving detailing its discovery location and history.
Interior Details
Inspired by the moon's bright and dark sides, the interior is available in two versions: Arctic White leather or leather.
The Bespoke speakers feature yellow gold finishes that complement the additional gold elements found throughout the vehicle. These unique features draw inspiration from NASA's historic Voyager satellites, which carried two gold discs into space containing sounds and images that convey the diversity of life and culture on Earth.
Additional Details
Completing the scene is a titanium watch with a matte finish, engraved in "technical" gold, a design that reflects the interplanetary space theme alongside the Spirit of Ecstasy figurine adorned with yellow gold accents.
