The Sharjah Municipality announced over the weekend that 5,867 additional parking spaces in various areas of the emirate will be subject to parking fees every day, including Fridays and public holidays. This initiative is part of the second phase aimed at providing more parking spots for residents and visitors, ensuring availability at all times while preventing misuse.
Details on Paid Parking Areas
According to Ali Ahmed Abu Ghazeen, Director of Public Parking, the paid parking areas will be marked with blue signs throughout the week and on official holidays.
- Covers all streets in the Al-Ghuwaire area.
- Internal streets in Al-Shuweihyeen.
- Al-Zahra Street in the Al-Masalla and Al-Ghuwaire areas.
- Arabian Gulf Street in the Al-Naba and Al-Ghuwaire areas.
- Al-Majra and Al-Shuweihyeen.
- Al-Murayja Street in the Al-Nab’a area.
- Al-Murayja and Al-Jubail areas.
- Al-Wahda Street in the Al-Nahda and Al-Majaz 2 areas.
- The Corniche Street in Al-Majaz 1, 2, and 3.
- Jamal Abdul Nasser Street in both directions in Al-Majaz 2.
- Al-Ittihad Street in the Al-Nahda area.
Paid Parking Availability
According to Abu Ghazeen, the Sharjah Municipality provides drivers with over 50,000 paid parking spaces across the emirate, with plans to add 3,500 more spaces in the Al-Khan and Al-Mamzar areas.
Methods for Paying Parking Fees
Drivers can pay their parking fees in Sharjah using several methods, including:
- Using coins at parking machines.
- Via SMS.
- Using prepaid cards.
- Through an electronic wallet that will be launched soon.
