Subaru BRZ 2023 Updates: Design and Performance Enhancements
Not the most popular brand in this region, but still, this news is important. The Subaru BRZ or the Toyota 86 (for those unfamiliar) are essentially the same cars but with different badges. This is because the car is a collaborative effort between Toyota and Subaru, aimed at offering an affordable sports coupe. Subaru developed the engine while Toyota handled the design. Good news: the Subaru BRZ has received significant updates since its debut in 2012.
Exterior Design Updates
The Subaru BRZ features a new front bumper that is both lowered and widened for improved aerodynamics. Key updates include:
- New LED headlights – a first for any Subaru, along with daytime running lights (DRLs).
- Updated spoiler and LED taillamps.
- New alloy wheel design.
- LED fog lights for enhanced visibility.
Interior Features
The interior has seen minor changes, including:
- A redesigned leather steering wheel.
- BRZ badged seating.
- A 4.2 inch display in the instrument cluster, providing essential driver information.
Performance Specifications
The performance figures have not drastically changed. The flat-4 boxer engine now delivers:
- 205 BHP
- 211 Nm of torque
This represents an increase of 5 BHP and 7 Nm. The engine is paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. Notably, the Sports mode has been renamed to Track mode, and hill start assist is now available in the vehicle.
The Subaru BRZ is expected to hit showrooms by September this year, with a price anticipated to be close to the current market rates.
