Terry Grant Breaks World Record with Land Rover Range Rover Sport SVR
Land Rover has set a new world record for the fastest mile driven on two wheels, achieved by the renowned stunt driver Terry Grant. He completed this distance in a remarkable time of 2 minutes and 24.5 seconds using the Range Rover Sport SVR, breaking his previous record by a staggering 30 seconds, which he established in 2011. This achievement was recorded during the "Goodwood Festival of Speed" held last weekend.
Grant elevated the left side of the Range Rover Sport SVR by driving up a specially designed ramp, before balancing the vehicle on just two wheels and accelerating to a speed of 60 miles per hour on the famous Goodwood track, thereby setting a new Guinness World Record.
In a dramatic turn of events, Grant secured the new record during the final moments of his attempt on Sunday afternoon, after failing in four previous attempts over the weekend.
The Range Rover Sport SVR is known for its high performance, featuring a powerful engine that produces 575 horsepower. This allows it to accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 4.3 seconds, with a top speed of 174 miles per hour. To enable the vehicle to set this new world record, only one modification was made to its differential gear to provide greater power to the two wheels on the ground. Additionally, the tire pressure for these two wheels was increased to 90 pounds per square inch.
Commenting on the feat, Terry Grant, who holds 25 Guinness World Records, stated, "Driving a car on two wheels is incredibly challenging. The driver must do their utmost to keep the vehicle balanced on one side at all times without tipping over for any reason. They need to remain vigilant of everything around them, from the curves of the road to the strength of the wind. Fortunately, the conditions were perfect, and the Range Rover Sport SVR was the ideal choice for this task."
