Event Introduction
On Wednesday, October 9, 2012, Jaguar Land Rover hosted its Ride and Drive event for the 2013 models of the XF and XJ.
Event Details
The day's activities began at 9 AM at the Media Hotel, where we listened to a brief speech from the Jaguar PR team. We were divided into pairs to rotate between vehicles at designated points.
First Driving Experience: XJ Model
My experience started with the XJ model, equipped with a 3.0-liter V6 engine, and it was truly unique. Driving through Hatta Mountains felt remarkably similar to cruising along the corniche. The RPM gauge barely exceeded 2,000 at high speeds, indicating excellent fuel efficiency.
Unsurprisingly, all 2013 models now come with an eight-speed transmission featuring a new powertrain. According to Jaguar, the fuel consumption rate is approximately 9.4 liters per 100 km, making it one of the most fuel-efficient sedans available.

Food Break
We took a break midway for some snacks and drinks, and of course, to chat with the Jaguar marketing and PR team. One of the significant upgrades in both the XF and XJ models is the transmission, which operates through a simple dial instead of traditional gear levers.
Arriving at Our Destination
We arrived at our destination in Hatta, enjoyed a gourmet lunch, and then switched cars.
Highlight of the Day: XF Model
The XF was the highlight of the day. While we expected the turbocharged V6 engine to be smooth, the XF exceeded all our expectations, especially on the highways. Driving this car does not feel like you are behind the wheel of a 2.0-liter engine at all; instead, it feels like a V6, providing an incredibly smooth ride.
In terms of pricing, it is more affordable than the Audi A4, and it is worth noting that there is more legroom in the back seats. Add to that the prestige of owning a Jaguar, and you have a winning deal.
Conclusion of the Day
We wrapped up the day at 5 PM, hardly in the mood to return to work. We looked forward to driving the car for a longer period, but so far, the first impression was truly positive.
