Volkswagen has revealed the ID. Every1 concept - it wants to be the EV for, you guessed it, ‘every one’. The small hatchback is intended to be a budget-friendly entry point into Volkswagen's EV family. It is also touted by many as the spiritual, electric successor to the Up!.
Design and Dimensions
The ID. Every1 measures 152.7 inches (3,880 millimeters) in length, positioning it between the now-discontinued e-up! and the previously revealed ID.2all concept. Its design draws inspiration from Volkswagen's heritage, featuring elements reminiscent of the first-generation Golf.
Prominent design details are a flat beltline and black surround for the rear glass, recalling the look of the 1976 original GTI. The 19-inch wheels on the concept, although sporty, are likely to be reduced in size in the production version to maintain ride comfort and increase driving range.
Interior and Features
Inside, the ID. Every1 seeks to provide room on par with the gas-powered Polo supermini, courtesy of the judicious packaging of its purpose-designed electric platform. The interior seats four comfortably, and the trunk offers 10.7 cubic feet (305 liters) of cargo space, which is a lot for a car in this class.
The dashboard is dominated by a big touchscreen infotainment system, which brings Volkswagen's new software architecture. The system will likely have the capability to do over-the-air updates and could have features that can be turned on during the lifetime of the vehicle, possibly through subscription-based services.

Speaking to Autocar, VW’s design head honcho Andreas Mindt said: “From the ID. 2all onwards, we will have physical buttons for the five most important functions – the volume, the heating on each side of the car, the fans and the hazard light – below the screen.”
“We will never, ever make this mistake any more. On the steering wheel, we will have physical buttons. No guessing any more.
“There’s feedback, it’s real, and people love this. Honestly, it’s a car. It’s not a phone: it’s a car.”
Market Positioning and Future Outlook
The ID. Every1 is also slated as an indirect replacement for the e-up!, which was discontinued by Volkswagen in 2023. Through this introduction, Volkswagen wants to help fulfill the demand for less expensive EV vehicles in the market, particularly since competition stiffens with other companies set to unveil price-friendly electric models.
The ID. Every1 production. It is anticipated to be constructed using Volkswagen's second-generation MEB platform, which is to be shared with cars such as the ID.4, and will go into production in 2027.
