Experience the 2014 Ford Fusion and Ranger in the UAE
The new 2014 Ford Fusion is now available in the UAE. We had the opportunity to test drive the 2014 Ford Fusion and the 2014 Ford Ranger for half a day at the Dubai Autodrome. Additionally, we conducted a quick comparison between the Fusion and the Toyota Camry on the track.
2014 Ford Fusion
The Ford Fusion 2014 is equipped with numerous driving technologies, including:
- Lane Departure Warning
- Blind Spot Monitoring
- Adaptive Cruise Control
- Collision Warning
- Steering Correction
- Parking Assistance
It is the only car in its class to offer inflatable seatbelts, enhancing safety. We drove both the Camry and the Fusion on the track, and the difference in steering response and vehicle stability was evident. Of course, the Camry hasn't been updated recently, which gives the Fusion an edge with its newer technologies.
It would have been interesting to compare the Mazda 6 with the Fusion, as it also features adaptive cruise control and other technologies, having recently undergone updates. The Mazda 6 was also the winner in the YallaMotor challenge against the Nissan Altima and Honda Accord.
What I appreciated most was the cabin's quietness. It is significantly quieter than the Camry, as Ford representatives used a decibel meter to demonstrate this. The Camry registered between 78-80 dB, while the Fusion was at 68-70 dB, which is a substantial difference.
2014 Ford Ranger
The off-road capable 2014 Ford Ranger comes with impressive statistics in the compact truck category. It boasts a towing capacity of 3,350 kg and a ground clearance of 237 mm, with a fording depth of 800 mm. It also offers more functionality and comfort compared to the Toyota Hilux that we tested.
Descending a 45-degree slope was easier with the Ford Ranger. Additionally, it is safer now with dynamic stability control and six airbags.
