Specifications of the 2016 Citroen DS3
Introduction
Launched in January 2010, the Citroen DS3 was the first model in Citroen's DS line. With a strong heritage, the Citroen DS3 competes in the "B" segment alongside rivals such as the Alfa Romeo MiTo, Audi A1, and Mini Hatchback.
Main Features
- Engine: 1.6L I4
- Transmission: 4-speed automatic
- Power: 120 hp / 160 Nm torque
- Top Speed: 190 km/h
- Price: 64,900 AED
Exterior Design
Based on the concept of the Citroen DS3 R that made a strong market entry in 2009, the design retains many of its original characteristics. With multiple creative touches, the Citroen DS3 features a bold look with sharp headlights and a honeycomb grille surrounded by daytime running lights.
Breaking the conventional mold, this car adopts a unique two-tone color scheme, 16-inch dual alloy wheels, chrome door trims, and an attractive rear end.

Interior Design
The plastic-heavy interior of the Citroen DS3 is adorned with glossy black surfaces painted with chrome accents and limited leather sections. The fabric seats are comfortable and provide ample head and legroom for all occupants.
The pedals are ergonomically positioned for easy access to controls. Unfortunately, the handbrake's placement under the armrest seems impractical. Nevertheless, it aligns with the unconventional design of this French hatchback.
Safety and Technology
In terms of technology, the Citroen DS3 does not offer much.
- Bluetooth connectivity
- Cruise control
- Steering wheel controls
- Monochrome display on the dashboard
On the safety front, the Citroen DS3 earned a 5-star rating in the European New Car Assessment Programme. It includes an anti-lock braking system, electronic brakeforce distribution, emergency braking assistance, electronic stability control, airbags for the driver and passenger, as well as automatic seatbelt tightening before collisions. However, it is surprising that parking sensors are absent from this impressive list.

Driving Experience
The Citroen DS3 is equipped with a 1.6L I4 engine that produces 120 hp and 160 Nm of torque, paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission that provides front-wheel drive. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.9 seconds, reaching a top speed of 190 km/h.
With a sporty suspension setup, it maintains a good weight transfer during cornering and features strong brakes that propel it forward quickly. However, it may take some time to find the desired feel during gear shifts.
Conclusion
The Citroen DS3 clearly has a distinct audience. It is somewhat unconventional and might even be considered a bit quirky! It targets individuals who wish to stand out and express their unique style, all at a premium price.
