2019 Jeep Compass Review: Performance and Technology

Introduction
While in Italy, I had the opportunity to drive the new 2019 Jeep Compass. Let me tell you, I was genuinely impressed. To be completely honest, my expectations weren't high, but after an extended drive, especially on rough terrains, it truly won me over.
Vehicle Performance
The model I tested was the Trailhawk version, meaning it’s designed to handle everything you’d expect from an off-road vehicle, whether it’s on dirt, mud, rocks, or water. With this vehicle, you can comfortably take your family or friends on an off-road adventure while enjoying its luxury and performance on paved roads.
Engine and Transmission
The Compass is equipped with a 2.4-liter engine that produces 180 horsepower, paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission. If this is your first experience with a 9-speed vehicle, you might need some time to adjust. Driving in “LOW” mode surprised me with its substantial power delivery and ample capability for more force.
Design of the Jeep Compass
Being a Jeep, you can’t miss its iconic design language, characterized by the seven-slot grille and trapezoidal wheel arches. With some unique design touches here and there, the Compass adds a level of excitement to its style, distinguishing it from its competitors.
Off-Road Features
The Trailhawk version comes equipped with 17-inch off-road wheels and tires, a red rear tow hook, and ground clearance angles of 30° at the front and 33.6° at the rear, along with a breakover angle of 24.4°. Additionally, the Trailhawk is equipped with various driving modes, including speed control and a descent assist system.
Technology and Comfort
If you’re someone who values technology and frequently connects your phone to your vehicle, the all-new Compass features the latest version of the Uconnect system, compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Safety Features
In terms of safety, the vehicle comes with a commendable array of features, including:
