Exterior Design
The Kia Optima shares several features with its competitor, the Hyundai Sonata. However, its futuristic design, crafted by former Audi TT designer Peter Schreyer, sets it apart with its striking aesthetics. The Optima has retained its design since 2010, with minor updates in the latest model.

At the rear, the Optima features a diffuser, dual exhaust outlets, and a trunk capacity of 450 liters, which is larger than the Camry's trunk but smaller than that of the Accord.

The interior design is decent but falls short when compared to newer designs from competitors.

Driving Experience
Despite our test model being the GT Line, it features a 2.4-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine producing 185 horsepower and 241 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission that performs adequately.
The Optima offers three driving modes: Eco, Comfort, and Sport. However, even in Sport mode, the driving experience may not meet your expectations.
Fuel efficiency is rated at 8.3 liters per 100 km in mixed driving conditions between city and highway.
Verdict
If the 2019 Kia Optima, priced at AED 107,000 for the GT Line version, had been launched 3 or 4 years ago, it would have been a top choice in its class. However, with competitors like the Camry, Accord, and the new Altima, Kia needs to introduce an entirely new generation to stay competitive.
