Introduction
Porsche recently revealed the new Porsche 911 Turbo S at the 2016 Qatar Motor Show (check out the full article here), and we are excited to present the spy shots for the next generation Porsche 911.
Design Updates
The new 2019 Porsche 911 sports a wider track at both ends compared to its predecessors. The wheel arch extensions confirm this wider track. It is important to note that the tires remain the same size as the 2017 911, which is 305/30; hence, these extensions are not for wider tires.
Performance and Platform
Although the all-new 2019 Porsche 911 will not be unveiled until sometime in 2018, we have some solid details to share. This model will sit on a new modular sports car platform developed by Porsche, enabling greater flexibility in engine positioning and suspension hardware. Additionally, this platform will support hybrid technology for the Porsche 911.
Future Models
The next generations of the Boxster and Cayman will also feature this new platform, which may extend to the next generation of the Audi R8, Lamborghini’s Aventador, and Huracan. While these models are mid-engined, the Porsche 911 will maintain its signature rear-engine layout, possibly moving closer to the mid-engine configuration.
Engine Specifications
The 2019 Porsche 911 is expected to feature the same twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter 6-cylinder engine that debuted in the 2017 911. This engine delivers:
- 370 horsepower and 331 lb-ft of torque in the Carrera
- 420 horsepower and 368 lb-ft in the Carrera S
We anticipate that both the Carrera and Carrera S variants will be available for the 2019 Porsche 911 as well.
Conclusion
Stay tuned for more updates on the 2019 Porsche 911!
