2023 Cadillac LYRIQ: The Future of Luxury Electric Vehicles
Today marks a significant milestone for Cadillac, illuminating the brand's future and establishing key concepts for the luxury automotive sector. The debut of the production model of the 2023 Cadillac LYRIQ is the culmination of a century of remarkable innovations and heralds the dawn of an entirely new era. Having successfully passed the production version tests of its first luxury SUV, Cadillac announced that customers can begin reserving this model starting September 2021, with initial availability expected in the first half of 2022.

The stunning design of the 2023 Cadillac LYRIQ, combined with its artistically integrated technologies and the Ultium platform from General Motors, will provide an unparalleled high-performance luxury experience. This will set new benchmarks for Cadillac."
Amazing Performance Technologies
Upon launch, the LYRIQ will be equipped with pioneering technologies and impressive performance capabilities, thanks to its advanced electric engineering. The battery pack, consisting of 12 modules and a 100 kWh capacity along with the rear-wheel-drive Ultium platform, delivers an estimated 340 horsepower and 440 Nm of torque, with over 300 miles of driving range on a full charge according to Cadillac's testing1.
Accelerating Development
Jamie Brewer, Chief Engineer for the LYRIQ, mentioned: "Thanks to the flexible Ultium platform powering the LYRIQ, along with advanced virtual development tools, Cadillac has accelerated its development process, achieving more real-world mileage with prototypes in a shorter timeframe than expected. It is truly exciting to see our goals coming to fruition on the road – this means we are on track to deliver this groundbreaking electric vehicle to customers nine months ahead of schedule."
Charging Technologies
The LYRIQ also offers fast direct current charging at public stations with a rate of 190 kW, enabling customers to add approximately 76 miles of driving range in just 10 minutes2. For home charging2, the LYRIQ provides a class-leading 19.2 kW charging unit, which can add up to 52 miles of driving range per hour3.
Modern Driving Features
To help customers fully control their electric driving experience, the LYRIQ will include next-generation 4Regen-On-Demand technology, along with a 5One-Pedal Driving feature for convenient driving with a single pedal. With Cadillac's new 4Regen-On-Demand technology, drivers can control the deceleration of the LYRIQ or bring it to a complete stop5 using a pressure-sensitive paddle mounted on the steering wheel. Both technologies leverage regenerative braking to help maximize electric driving range.
Additional Features of the 2023 LYRIQ
Among the additional features of the LYRIQ for 2023 are:
- 6Super Cruise, the industry's first true hands-free driver assistance system, which can be used on compatible roads.
- A stunning 33-inch advanced sloped LED display capable of broadcasting over a billion colors.
- Next-generation Active Noise Cancellation system from Cadillac.
- Sleek LED headlights with a dancing sequential lighting pattern.
- AKG audio system with 19 speakers and headrest speakers.
- Digital vehicle access through KeyPass technology.
- Dual-level charging cable.
- Standard 20-inch 6-spoke alloy wheels or optional dynamic 22-inch alloy wheels with reverse spokes.
Customers will be able to choose from the exterior colors Satin Steel Metallic or Stellar Black Metallic, and interior colors Sky Cool Gray or Noir.
LYRIQ Design
Regarding the design, Andrew Smith, Executive Director of Cadillac Design, stated: "The LYRIQ represents a new design from the ground up and sets the standard for Cadillac's future. The goal I set for my team was to design the LYRIQ with the same level of detail typically found in a show vehicle. Thus, the customer should feel like they are driving a show car in the future."
The interior is characterized by its elegant simplicity, focusing on secondary and tertiary design elements, including intricately laser-etched patterns through wood over metal trims, an unprecedented feature. The large curved LED screen serves as the centerpiece of the cabin, with all components seamlessly integrated to eliminate the appearance of separating lines between technical equipment, lighting elements, and decor.
A prime example of Cadillac's recurring design motifs is the distinctive black crystal-patterned grille.
Smith explained: "We wanted to give the vehicle a unique face and ensure it looks distinctly Cadillac." The exclusive vertical lighting is highlighted by a dancing light feature. In this regard, the exterior lighting represents a key technical development, allowing Cadillac to fulfill its promise of providing true vertical lamps, the first of their kind in the automotive sector.
Production and Availability
Production of the 2023 Cadillac LYRIQ is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2022, with a starting price of 7$59,990. The vehicle will be manufactured at General Motors' Spring Hill assembly plant in Tennessee, which is receiving a $2 billion investment to support electric vehicle production. An additional $2.3 billion is being invested in a brand-new battery cell manufacturing facility in Spring Hill through Ultium Cells LLC, a partnership between General Motors and LG Energy Solutions.
A new advertising campaign featuring the 2023 Cadillac LYRIQ will launch on April 25, during the Oscar Awards broadcast.
