2026 BMW M2 CS: Rear-Wheel-Drive Rocket with 523 Horsepower revealed

BMW has officially unveiled the M2 CS: the already rapid M2 spruced up to 11. This M2 CS has the usual stuff - increased power, reduced weight, and, yes, its rear-wheel-drive configuration..
Enhanced Performance
Under the hood, the M2 CS houses a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine, delivering 523 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque. This marks a 50-horsepower and 36 lb-ft increase over the standard M2. Like other CS models, the M2 CS comes exclusively with an eight-speed automatic transmission (boo!), the M2 CS accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds and flat out, it'll do a whopping 188 mph.
Weight Reduction and Handling
BMW has implemented several weight-saving measures, resulting in a 97-pound reduction compared to the regular automatic M2. This is thanks to carbon-fiber body panels, including a distinctive ducktail trunk lid, forged wheels, and carbon-backed bucket seats.
The M2 CS has a curb weight of 3,770 pounds, making it the lightest M car currently available. For those seeking further weight savings, optional carbon-ceramic brakes are available.
To complement the increased power and reduced weight, BMW has re-tuned the adaptive dampers, electric locking differential, ABS, and traction/stability control systems.
Production and Availability
Production of the 2026 M2 CS is set to commence in August at BMW's San Luis Potosí plant in Mexico, with deliveries expected to follow shortly thereafter. BMW will be positioning it between the standard M2 and the more expensive M4 CS. Potential timeline for a UAE launch hasn’t been revealed yet.
