The standard Mustang Dark Horse has always felt like a car waiting for its moment. It had the chassis, the brakes, and the attitude, but with 500bhp, it was bringing a knife to a gunfight. In an era where electric saloons are pushing four digits and family SUVs can crack 0-60 in three seconds, the Dark Horse felt a bit... sensible.
Ford has evidently grown tired of being sensible.
To bridge the massive canyon between the $60,000 Dark Horse and the absurd $325,000 GTD, they have unleashed the 2026 Mustang Dark Horse SC. The formula is delightfully old-school. Take the standard car, rip off the intake manifold, and bolt a massive supercharger to the top of the engine.
It is simple, it is loud, and it is exactly what the Mustang lineup was missing.
The Heart of the Beast
Under the vented hood lies a 5.2-litre supercharged V8. If that displacement sounds familiar, it should. It is the same capacity as the old Shelby GT350 and the current GTD, replacing the 5.0-litre Coyote found in the standard model.

Ford is keeping the exact horsepower figures quiet until the summer launch, but we can read between the lines. The car slots "just below" the 815bhp GTD and "well above" the 500bhp standard model. Given that the old Shelby GT500 made 760bhp, it is safe to assume the Dark Horse SC will be hammering on the door of 800 horsepower.
Crucially, this power is sent to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT). Sorry, purists. There is no manual option here. Ford likely decided that trying to manage 800 horses with a clutch pedal was a liability they didn't want to deal with.
Not Just a Drag Strip Hero
Ford hasn't just added power and walked away. The Dark Horse SC gets a serious suspension overhaul to stop it from becoming a kinetic weapon in the corners.

It comes standard with revised MagneRide dampers, stiffer springs, and new stabilizer bars. There is also a lightweight magnesium strut tower brace to keep the front end rigid. Stopping power is provided by massive Brembo brakes (six-piston at the front, four-piston at the rear) hiding behind 20-inch aluminium wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero R rubber.
The Track Pack: For the Serious
If you plan on taking your SC to the Dubai Autodrome, you will want the optional Track Pack. This is where things get properly serious.

The Track Pack swaps the standard wheels for 20-inch carbon-fibre units and wraps them in custom Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tyres. It also upgrades the brakes to the same carbon-ceramics found on the Mustang GTD. These are not small brakes. The front rotors measure 16.5 inches, which is bigger than the wheels on most hatchbacks.
Visually, the Track Pack adds a "ducktail" spoiler and a revised rear wing that work together to generate 620 pounds of downforce at 180 mph. It also includes the GTD’s variable traction control system, which allows you to dial in exactly how much slip you want before the computer saves you.
Will We See It in the UAE?
While official local pricing hasn't been announced, expect it to sit somewhere between the AED 300,000 mark of the standard Dark Horse and the astronomical price of the GTD. Deliveries in the US start this summer, no word yet on the UAE launch though.

FAQs
Does the Mustang Dark Horse SC come with a manual gearbox?
No. The Dark Horse SC is exclusively available with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. This is likely due to the massive torque output of the supercharged engine.
How much horsepower does it have?
Ford hasn't released the final number yet, but they have confirmed it sits between the 500bhp Dark Horse and the 815bhp GTD. We expect it to be around 760 to 800 bhp.
What is the difference between the Dark Horse and the Dark Horse SC?
The "SC" stands for Supercharged. It swaps the 5.0-litre naturally aspirated engine for a 5.2-litre supercharged V8, adds a DCT gearbox, and features upgraded suspension, cooling, and aero.
What does the Track Pack add?
The Track Pack adds carbon-fibre wheels, carbon-ceramic brakes, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tyres, and a more aggressive aero package with increased downforce.
When will it be released?
Order books open in the spring of 2026, with US deliveries beginning in the summer. Middle East availability usually follows a few months later.
