Essential Vehicle Checks for Your Eid-Al-Adha Road Trip

1. Engine Oil
Engine oil is vital for your vehicle’s performance. Check not only the oil level but also its color. If the oil appears dark or is significantly below the “full” mark on the dipstick, it’s recommended to change the oil before your trip to avoid being stranded.
2. Coolant
Sufficient amounts of coolant allow the engine to operate without overheating. A quick look under the hood should reveal if there’s enough coolant and whether there’s a potential leak in the engine’s cooling system.
3. Battery
In addition to carrying a pair of jumper cables, it is important to visually check the condition of the battery and the terminals. Clean off any acid leaks with warm water and pay attention to the age of the battery to avoid issues.
4. Tire Pressure
Although a common practice in the UAE is to overinflate tires for improved fuel efficiency, this can be detrimental to safety. Proper tire pressure is essential, as it varies depending on vehicle size, load, and tire size.

6. Emergency Kit
Ensure your emergency kit is complete with essential tools such as flashlights, tire inflators, jacks, emergency stop signs, windshield fluid, spare keys, rags, and gloves. Don't forget to pack a personal first aid kit with band-aids, sanitizers, etc.
7. Electrical Equipment
Check all electrical equipment, including the horn, wipers, lights, and A/C system. An A/C malfunction during a summer road trip can make your journey uncomfortable.
