Hyundai Motor recently unveiled the all-new Kona N during a digital event named "Hyundai N Day," which was dedicated to showcasing the N brand. The company highlighted its performance development philosophy and its ambition for an enjoyable sustainable driving experience.

The Kona N is the latest addition to Hyundai's high-performance N lineup and is the first N model to adopt an SUV body style, offering a successful blend of:

Engine and Transmission
The Kona N is powered by a 2.0-liter GDI turbocharged engine paired with an 8-speed wet dual-clutch transmission (N DCT), an improved version of the internally developed 8DCT. This transmission has been enhanced for durability to meet the demands of high-performance vehicles, making it suitable for N models.
Engine Performance
With the 2.0-liter T-GDI engine, optimal performance is achieved. The transmission control unit for the N model has been calibrated for quick gear shifts and to activate a range of exclusive driving features, including:
- N Grin Shift (NGS)
- N Power Shift (NPS)
- N Track Sense Shift (NTS)
These features enhance the overall driving pleasure.
Performance Statistics
The powertrain delivers a maximum output of 280 horsepower and 40.0 kg-m of torque. With N Grin Shift activated, power rises to 290 horsepower, further enhancing the driving experience. The engine also provides:
- Flat torque for high responsiveness
- Improved acceleration for more enjoyment on the road or track
The Kona N has a top speed of 240 km/h and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.5 seconds when launch control is engaged.
