Introduction
The Swedish automotive manufacturer Volvo has launched the all-new S60 sports sedan, marking the first vehicle to be produced in the United States. The new S60 has been manufactured at Volvo's Charleston plant in South Carolina, reflecting the company's commitment to electric vehicle production and a long-term shift away from traditional combustion engines.

During the launch event, Hakan Samuelsson, President and CEO of Volvo Cars, stated: “The new S60 is one of the most exciting cars we have ever made. It is a true driver’s car that strengthens our position in the sedan markets of the United States and China, creating more growth opportunities for the brand.”
Technology and Design
The new S60 shares the "Scalable Product Architecture" platform with other models in the lineup, incorporating safety technologies and an infotainment system borrowed from the V60, which was launched earlier this year. The design and quality align closely with the popular XC60 and XC90 models.
Engines and Performance
The S60 lineup will offer two turbocharged gasoline engines and a hybrid powertrain with fast charging capabilities, featuring T5 and T6 engines confirmed by the brand.
- Hybrid engine T6 - Producing 340 horsepower.
- T8 engine with all-wheel drive - Delivering 400 horsepower.
Technology and Safety
On the technical front, the new S60 is equipped with City Safety and Autobrake technologies that assist drivers in avoiding pedestrians, cyclists, and large animals. Additionally, the optional Pilot Assist system allows drivers to experience semi-autonomous driving, controlling steering, acceleration, and braking on well-paved roads at speeds of up to 130 km/h.
