Audi RSQ3 Review: A Powerful Compact SUV
Introduction
Want a Lamborghini Urus but prefer a more subdued option? Audi is here to help you. Meet the RSQ3 - the closest thing ever to a Mini Lamborghini Urus.
Design
We call this the Mini Urus because:
- It incorporates new design elements.
- It boasts impressive power.
Starting with the design, the front features a debatable look, as if the designer wanted to combine multiple styles at once. Some may appreciate this boldness, while others might not. The car we tested had the Glossy Black Styling Package, which included:
- Black window contours
- Black side mirrors
- Other black highlights
At the back, you'll find a sporty rear end, complete with RS badging and a proper diffuser. The boot offers a generous 530 liters of space, which is quite impressive.
Features
A cool feature of the RSQ3 is the little projectors located under the side mirrors that project the Audi logo onto the ground—definitely a neat touch!
Performance
As mentioned earlier, the RSQ3 is indeed super powerful, boasting 400hp and 480Nm of torque from a 5-cylinder turbo engine. These specifications are reminiscent of sports cars!
Interior
Inside, you will find Audi's impressive virtual cockpit, a Bang and Olufsen sound system, abundant alcantara, a flat-bottom steering wheel, and RS sports seats in front. The RSQ3 also features modern amenities such as:
- Ambient lighting
- 3-zone climate control
Drawbacks
However, there are a few downsides to note:
- Less headroom in the back seats
- Plastic paddle shifters instead of aluminum
Driving Experience
While the RSQ3 features Quattro badges, it employs a more front-wheel-biased system called Haldex, meaning it's not a true AWD SUV. On the road, the 7-speed DCT auto transmission operates smoothly, complemented by good noise isolation. The sporty feel is enhanced by:
- Stiff springs and dampers
- 10mm lower suspension
- 375mm perforated disc brakes at the front (upgradable to carbon ceramics)
- 20” wheels
Conclusion
In summary, priced at 281,600 AED (including VAT), the RSQ3 offers a complete package. If you're seeking more practicality than a typical Audi, such as the A3 sedan, the RSQ3 delivers along with sports-car-like performance.
