The name Bugatti is synonymous with breaking records. With the Veyron, they shattered the record for the fastest production car in history. They also produced the most expensive car. However, they also set a negative record: the massive losses incurred from every Veyron sold.
While official figures remain elusive, experts estimate that Bugatti lost around 5 million USD on each Veyron sold. This staggering figure is particularly alarming considering the car was sold for about half that amount. With a total of 450 Veyrons sold, the cumulative loss is immense.

However, this scenario will not repeat with the recently launched Bugatti Chiron at the Geneva Motor Show. Bugatti's director, Wolfgang Durheimer, confirmed that with the new car, things will run smoothly as the Chiron is expected to generate profits, which will support future Bugatti research and development. In an interview with "The Verge," Durheimer stated that they carefully considered all aspects this time, and with 500 units priced at 2.4 million Euros, he is confident that Bugatti will achieve significant profits this time around.
According to his statements, it is clear that Bugatti plans to sell all 500 units of the Chiron within the next 8 years. This includes special editions, super sports versions, and convertible models. Excitingly, Bugatti is also planning other products, including a sedan that was showcased in 2009 as a prototype featuring the same W16 engine. If this comes to fruition, it indicates a promising future for Bugatti.
