Check The New Dubai Mall Parking System – Hefty AED 150 Fine for Non-Compliance
Tags:
Dubai is revolutionizing its mall parking experience with a barrier-free system aimed at streamlining traffic flow and enhancing shopper convenience. City Centre Deira is pioneering this change, with the Mall of the Emirates set to follow suit in February. This cutting-edge initiative ensures seamless entry and exit while enforcing compliance with new parking regulations.
How It Works
Traditional barriers are being replaced with state-of-the-art cameras that register vehicle license plates upon entry. This eliminates the need for drivers to halt, allowing smooth access. Upon exit, the system calculates parking fees based on recorded timestamps.
Motorists receive an SMS with a payment link, offering multiple payment options via the Parkin mobile app, website, or on-site kiosks. This transformation aligns with Dubai’s smart city vision, offering a frictionless and fully automated parking experience.
Parking Fees & Fines
Parking Charges:
- No fee changes—this system enhances efficiency, not costs.
- City Centre Deira: 3 hours of complimentary parking.
- Mall of the Emirates: 4 hours of complimentary parking.
- Extended free parking for shoppers spending over AED 150.
- Vox Cinemas or Ski Dubai visitors receive an additional 2 hours free.
- Weekends and public holidays remain free of charge.
Penalties for Non-Payment:
- Payments must be completed within three days to avoid fines.
- A reminder SMS is sent if the deadline is exceeded by two days.
- A final follow-up call is made before imposing an AED 150 penalty.
- Unauthorized parking incurs a hefty AED 1,000 fine.
- Overnight parking (from 6 AM to 6 AM) is strictly prohibited, with offenders facing a AED 200 charge.
Why It Matters
This smart parking innovation reduces congestion, particularly during peak hours, by eliminating the bottlenecks caused by traditional ticketing barriers. Additionally, digital tracking enhances security by preventing fraudulent access and unauthorized vehicle use.
Customer Support & Future Upgrades
Dedicated service desks and kiosks are available in malls to assist drivers with payments and inquiries. Future developments include prepaid parking accounts and auto-deduction payment systems for added convenience.
Expansion Plans
Majid Al Futtaim’s partnership with Dubai’s Parkin operator will bring this system to City Centre Deira, Mall of the Emirates, and City Centre Mirdif. With an estimated 20 million vehicles utilizing these parking spaces annually, this transformation is poised to significantly ease congestion.
Further expansions into business districts and residential communities are in discussion, with Palm Jumeirah among the potential future locations.
Dubai continues to set benchmarks in urban innovation, ensuring an effortless and tech-driven parking experience for residents and visitors alike.
