The Dubai Taxi Corporation has announced the addition of 20 hybrid vehicles to its fleet.

The hybrid vehicle is the Toyota Camry sedan, which operates on electric motors and switches to gasoline at certain speeds, according to the Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC).
Statements from Officials
Ahmed Al Hammadi, the acting CEO of DTC, stated: "We have been considering the inclusion of hybrid vehicles in our fleet since 2008, and we believe we have chosen the right car for this purpose."
Carbon Emissions
The carbon dioxide emissions for a standard taxi are estimated to be 182 kg per day, while the emissions from hybrid vehicles remain at 121 kg daily. He added: "Hybrid cars are more expensive than regular vehicles, but that's not the main concern; the important thing is to promote environmental awareness."
Taxi Fare
There will be no difference in fare for passengers.
