Designated Parking for Electric Cars
As part of an incentive program aimed at encouraging residents and citizens to adopt electric vehicles, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has reserved 220 parking spaces exclusively for electric vehicle owners and users.
Features and Benefits
In addition to free charging, a vehicle renewal system and Salik road tolls were introduced in September 2017, with the goal of achieving a Green Economy by 2121. This initiative was implemented in two phases, beginning with the allocation of 70 parking spaces across various locations in Dubai, including major highways like Sheikh Zayed Road.
Locations for Electric Vehicle Parking
Designated parking spots for electric vehicles are available in forty locations to ensure these spaces are not misused. Any non-electric vehicle owner who improperly uses these spots will face a fine of 1,000 AED. The maximum parking time for electric vehicles in these free spaces is capped at 4 hours.

Alongside a large fleet of hybrid taxis and the introduction of Tesla models, the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority estimated that by 2020, the number of electric vehicles on Dubai's roads would exceed 32,000.
