Now the Honda Civic has a long history and has been seen as the perfect little drive around that’ll never fail you. We Drove the 2016 Honda Civic EXI to see what all the hype was about and it certainly did not fail to deliver. This is probably the biggest revamp for a Civic in Hondas history, with bold new styling and a modern interior.

Exterior
When I saw the the Honda Civic for the first time I couldn't believe how well they had done with all the exterior changes. The car looks great! It has a cool stance with its all new alloy wheels and aggressive body changes. The front end even has hints of the soon to be released NSX. The differences between the 2016 Civic and the 2015 model are obvious and a positive move in direction from the styling team. I was eager to get going and really see what the changes were all about.

Interior and Safety
When I first got inside the car I was pleasantly surprised at how new the car looked. The EXI has a host of new features not seen before in a civic, with the first and my personal favourite being the full digital dashboard. This means that all the dials are extreamly accurate and respond quickly to any chnages the car might experience. Another nifty little feature and the LaneWatch system, whenever you indicate right (opposite side to the driving position) the flat panel screen turns into a blind spot indictor showing a live video feed of the entire side of the car, I feel in love with this feature and because theres a button to keep it on constantly, thats what I did. The peddles are in a good position and help make driving long distances easy and strain free.
The car also has remote start, power sunroof, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. So it is well equipped for the price. I found the rear cabin to be spacious and comfortable with rear facing AC units and plenty of leg room for 3 passengers. One downside I did come across an issue and this was the flat panel screen not having a volume knob and even though the controls on the steering wheel allow you to change the volume. The screens other issues is that the second any sunlight hits it you cant see a thing, annoying. While the styling has been revamped so have the safety features which consist of, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD). Both these systems maximise the cars braking power and reduces braking distance. The Civic also comes with Hill assist. Airbags, four of them, one large curtain airbag both sides of the car protecting everyone from side impacts and tow in the front protecting the driver and passenger.

Drive
The all new Civic drives like a dream with zippy acceleration and smooth handling. I was surprised at how fast you can corner the thing without it giving way in the front or rear. The seating position is low and the steering feels great, very promising stuff. The engine in the EXI, a 2.0L doesn't sound like much but when you put the redline at 6700rpm it is. I love the sound this engine makes, it just seems to rev forever. Having said that if your not flooring it everywhere the cabin is quiet and comfortable and the car simply floats along.
Verdict
I had a great time testing the Civic EXI and this test has made me look forward to the 2016 Accord Coupe even more. With what they've done to the Civic I can only imagine how good the Accord will be. My rating, 4.5/5. A fantastic car for a small family or a singleton looking for some fun.
