2019 Hyundai Accent: Affordable Sedan in UAE
Overview
The 2019 Hyundai Accent is the most affordable sedan sold by the South Korean carmaker in the UAE. Over the years, the Hyundai Accent has massively risen in popularity. Since the launch of its fourth-generation model in 2011, it has gone on to become one of the best-selling B-segment sedans in the region. With prices starting at just 48,500 Dirhams, the new Hyundai Accent easily undercuts a vast majority of its competition, save for the Nissan Sunny which costs almost the same. This fifth generation of the Accent also shares its underpinnings with the all-new Kona crossover. When it was updated a year ago, the Hyundai Accent grew in size, thus making it an even better proposition than before.
Variants and Pricing
The 2019 Hyundai Accent in the UAE is only sold as a regular four-door sedan. There are three variants of the new Accent to choose from:
- 1.4L Base Trim: AED 48,500 (Cheapest)
- 1.6L Base Variant: AED 49,900 (More powerful engine)
- Fully-Loaded Accent: AED 59,900 (Includes more features)
Engine Specifications
The engines available are:
- 1.4-liter Four-Cylinder: 100 hp and 132 Nm of torque
- 1.6-liter Engine: 123 hp and 151 Nm of peak torque
Both engines come with a 6-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive as standard. Performance figures include:
- Accent 1.4: 0 to 100 km/h in 13.4 seconds, top speed of 183 km/h
- 1.6-liter Motor: 0 to 100 km/h in 11.3 seconds, top speed of 193 km/h
There’s no real difference between the two when it comes to fuel consumption.
Design and Interior Features
The 2019 Hyundai Accent is a far better-looking car, featuring the brand’s latest design language. Notable styling upgrades include:
- Cascading grille design
- Projector headlights with L-shaped LED daytime runners
- A more aggressive sculpted bumper
- New design of 16-inch alloy wheels
- New partial-LED taillights
- Restyled trunk and sportier bumper
The interior has also been given a thorough overhaul, looking more upscale in its layout and design. Hyundai has improved material quality and cabin insulation while ensuring the overall build and fit-and-finish remain strong. Although there are some low-rent materials, it’s not uncharacteristic for the Accent’s price point.
